Medical Interpretation

【Important Notice】

An in-person medical interpretation of TIA will conclude at the end of March 2026. We kindly ask that you use external medical interpretation services thereafter. Furthermore, we will continue to provide information regarding foreign language support in medical settings, and we hope you will find it useful.

TIAの医療通訳ボランティア派遣事業は、2026年3月末日で終了いたします。今後は外部の医療通訳サービスをご利用いただきますようお願いいたします。また、当協会では引き続き医療の場面での外国語対応に関する情報を発信してまいりますので、ご参考にしていただけますと幸いです。

When a patient applies to the hospital

There are three options. Please ask to the hospital and tell them that you want to use any one of services. The hospital will apply to those services.
 
(1) Tsukuba International Association
This is an in-person interpretation. We can dispatch a volunteer medical interpreter to the hospitals that have agreements with us, or clinics in Tsukuba City.

(2) Ibaraki Prefecture's Services
Ibaraki Prefecture offer “the Multilingual remote medical interpretation service”  in order to support smooth communication between the patients and  medical professional staffs.

(3) AMDA Medical Information Center's telephone interpretation
AMDA is a medical organization that helps foreign residents. Please ask to the hospital you will visit. The link below is for an medical institutions.
  

When patients use the service directly

(1) AMDA Medical Information Center's telephone interpretation
Besides the service mentioned above, AMDA also offers a direct service to the patients. Interpretation service over the phone is available during your visit on doctors.
